A good way to examine what’s going on in the world around us is to imagine we are looking at today’s events from a future perspective. In 2050 — how will we look back upon the Global Pandemic of the 2020’s or the Great Resignation that followed?

As I work with clients and speak with colleagues — other Coaches, Consultants and Human Resource professionals — another lens to view our ongoing changes today is part of The Great Contemplation. We find people are reassessing where they live, how they work, even what kind of education to provide for their children. Everything is on the table for consideration as we limp our way out of the pandemic and into — whatever comes next.

Cities are Changing. U-Haul can tell you that folks are packing up in cities and moving to more suburban and rural areas. And they are bringing Grandpa and Grandma with them. After the nursing home deaths, and our collective fear about the health and well-being of our older family members — living in different cities or states seems riskier. Keeping them closer is a change many are making as families head to affordable living options in Tennessee, Florida and Texas.

Education Options are Expanding. Zoom school opened the eyes of many parents about CRT and other curriculum they may not have been aware of in their child’s education. Screens may work for some kids, but many fell behind…
